In response to increased market demand for its airlaid materials, Fiberweb (China) Airlaid Company Limited invested $14 million in 2007 to establish a second production line with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons. According to the company, the new production line is the largest airlaid line to be designed, built, installed and commissioned in China by a Chinese supplier. The line is supported by state-of-the-art winding and slitting equipment. Upon full commercialization, Fiberweb (China) Airlaid Company Limited will have a total annual production capacity of 26,000 tons, making the company the largest airlaid manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific Rim with two leading airlaid technologies (agitator forming and drum forming).
 
Fiberweb’s Line II expansion project is now complete and the production line is currently coming onstream. Many government officials from Tianjin and TEDA attended a grand opening ceremony on June 20, where Daniel Dayan, Fiberweb CEO, and Derek Chan, president of Fiberweb Asia, were present.

Fiberweb (China) Airlaid Company Limited was incorporated into TEDA, Tianjin, PRC as a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) in 1999. Fiberweb invested $68 million to import and install its first world-class, state-of-the-art machine in China to manufacture high-tech, superabsorbent airlaid materials.  Application of these airlaid materials is mainly for wipes and feminine hygiene products. The company has progressively increased its production capacity and rapidly developed its business since commencement of commercial production in the fourth quarter 2001.
